EDSE to Host Virtual 'Sexual Attitude Reassessment'

LOS ANGELES — Everyone Deserves Sex Ed (EDSE) has announced a collaboration with ANTE UP! to create a virtual Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR) training.

The EDSE SAR, described by a rep as “a unique professional development experience that focuses on sexuality topics,” will take place December 11-13, via Zoom.

SAR is an extensive sexuality training and workshop for individuals who support clients in various ways in their work.

“This intensive three-day training is guided by the goals of liberation with a focus on racial, reproductive, disability and media justice and gives adult industry and sexuality professionals a valuable opportunity to build skills while learning — and unlearning — important concepts that inform the ways they work with customers and clients,” said a rep.

An Expansive Experience

Co-presented by EDSE founder Anne Hodder-Shipp and ANTE UP! founder Bianca Laureano, EDSE’s SAR, the rep added, “not only presents key sexuality concepts, but also incorporates essential reproductive justice, racial justice, disability justice and social justice frameworks for an especially expansive and fulfilling experience.”

“SARs help us evaluate and examine our beliefs and value systems around sexuality, autonomy, relationship dynamics, and more and helps facilitate an even more expansive view on the unique and diverse ways humans live and express themselves,” Hodder-Shipp added.

Hodder-Shipp stressed that “SARs are recommended for every kind of sexuality professional, whether you work in education, retail, customer service or content production, and they can be a great option for folks who want training but can’t commit to an extensive certification or academic program.”

Laureano explained that “the SAR that ANTE UP! and EDSE have built is unique in that the content not only presents key sexuality concepts, but also incorporates essential reproductive justice, racial justice, disability justice and social justice frameworks for an especially expansive and fulfilling experience.”

“We encourage everyone to bring their full selves into this learning and an unlearning space,” Laureano added. “We'll be challenged, enlightened, and supported throughout the weekend while also building connection and community through group work.”

The EDSE SAR will take place December 11-13, from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (PST) and will take place entirely online via Zoom. Cost is $450. According to organizers, this program meets the requirements for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselor, and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 10 CEs that can be used toward obtaining or maintaining AASECT certification.
