LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures has announced that Team Wicked, the charity effort led by studio contract performer Jessica Drake to participate in the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, has earned Gold Star Status from the community activism organization for the seventh consecutive year.
The honor, presented to the AIDS Walk Los Angeles' top 20 teams, coincides with Drake’s announcement that Team Wicked will be returning to raise funds for this year’s event.
Comprising adult stars, sex workers and advocates, Team Wicked has been a mainstay at AIDS Walk Los Angeles, having raised over $115,000 for the charity. This year’s event will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.
"I am excited to once again lead #TEAMWICKED at AIDS Walk Los Angeles this year after a successful effort last fall that raised much needed funds for HIV and AIDS research, as well as prevention efforts,” Drake, who is also a noted sex educator, said.
“Every year we see such a great response from industry members, friends and colleagues who contribute their time, effort and money to help change the lives of people impacted by HIV and AIDS. I am very proud to be a part of this effort and I would like to invite the entire industry to join Team Wicked for the 2019 walk.”
Team WICKED raised $10,000 in 2018 and earned 15th place among the dozens of teams participating in the annual benefit presented by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). Attaining Star Walker status again, Drake herself raised $6,175 of the team’s total, for 16th place among individual participants.
The teams earning Gold Star Status alongside Team Wicked include such notable companies as Paramount Pictures, Delta Airlines, APLA Health, Latham & Watkins, WEN in Spirit, Mac Cosmetics, ABC7, ETAF, Fox Entertainment Group, Oakwood School, Project Angel Food, CG Pride — Capital Group and many others.
