Female-Fronted Jane Doe Pictures Launches from Devil's Film

LOS ANGELES — Devil's Film and Giant Media have rolled out their newest studio imprint, Jane Doe Pictures, focusing on all-girl content from female performer-directors.

The studio launched in April with its freshman release, “Lesbian Encounters,” directed by Gia Paloma, and recently wrapped production on its sophomore title.

One of the creative forces behind Jane Doe Pictures, Pulse VP of Sales Maggie Metz, said she decided to hire exclusively female directors for the joint venture studio in order to "deeply explore the true female wants and needs" on camera.

A company rep endorsed the move stating, “In an industry historically known for promoting male performers into directorial positions, Metz’s vision champions female performers with an artistic eye and places them squarely in the driver’s seat.”

Jane Doe’s inaugural director Gia Paloma said, “I love the direction Jane Doe is taking by giving voice to the female experience and not just leaving sex to be from the perspective of the straight male. We certainly need and value that, but it’s time to illuminate other experiences as well! I’m super proud of what we made together!”

“I have had this vision for a while, and when I met Gia through one of our male directors, Jim Powers, we set up a meeting,” said Metz. “When she came in, I felt I could tell her my vision and she’d know exactly what I meant. ‘Lesbian Encounters’ was a phenomenal movie, and has done so well. I couldn’t be more pleased with who we chose to help launch this line!”

Paloma attributes the success of the title to genuine chemistry between scene partners Diana Grace and Ella Reese. “In an industry which manufactures fantasy, it’s unusual to have that level of organic chemistry on set between performers for each scene,” she said.

She returned to direct the company’s sophomore title, “Sophisticated Seductions,” which is slated to be released June 18 via Pulse Distribution. The studio plans to produce and release a new title every other month.

Metz explains that performer Darcie Dolce was originally tapped to direct but due to scheduling conflicts was unable to sign on to helm the production. Dolce instead starred alongside Lily Lane and is in talks to direct the company’s third title.

“Saying we’re excited is an understatement,” exclaimed Metz.
