Hollywood Party Report

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Freaky Friday Surprise Porn Party at Sugar in Hollywood, Calif., was a well-attended blowout, with performers and industry professionals filling the club space until the lights came up at 1:15 a.m. The party was sponsored by SexZ Pictures, Adam & Eve, The F.A.M.E. Awards, Wanted List, Red Light District, Genesis Magazine, Adultvest, X-Play, Cabaret Productions and the upcoming video "Not the Bradys XXX."

Conspicuously absent for much of the evening was All Media Play President and party impresario Jeff Mullen. "I was tied up on a set until 11 p.m.," Mullen told XBIZ. "I was shooting Wednesday, Thursday and today. I earn my money," he added with a laugh.

Early arrivals included Shy Love, who attended with rocker Dave Navarro, Jersey Jaxin, director Craven Moorehead, new talent McKenzie Michelle and Adam & Eve Director of Public Relations Katy Zvolerin.

Inside, three busy bars served partygoers in two large rooms plus an outdoor smoking lounge. The music was surprisingly eclectic, including a version of Sergio Mendes' "Mas Que Nada" remixed with a new heavy rhythm track standing out.

Director Roy Karch, who lives nearby, was enjoying the scene. "I just wrapped two movies, my version of 'Inserts' and a new MILF title," he told XBIZ. "They'll be out in a couple of months."

The extensive guest roster included SexZ Pictures contract performer Paulina James, Red Light District President David Joseph, XBIZ President Alec Helmy, Vanessa Blue, Aurora Snow, Sunny Lane, Phyllisha Anne, May Victoria, Nick Manning, Nikki Fairchild, Jay Ashley, New Sensations contract performer Ashlynn Brooke (pictured with Tommy Gunn), Vince Vouyer, Scott Styles, Nick East, Tory Lane, Ryder Skye, industry attorney Michael Fattorosi, Evil Angel publicist Karen Stagliano, Adultcon Vice President Renaud West, talent representative Rob Baker, Adam & Eve Pictures Vice President of Sales and Marketing Peter Reynolds, New Sensations director Jew Hefner, Wanted List executives Anh Tran and Danny Ting, DJ Airek from Shane's World, reporters James Bartholet, Rachel Worth and Steve Nelson, and new performers Bree Bennett, Brooke Belle and Holly West.

Vivid-Alt Party by Joanne Cachapero

Eon McKai’s Vivid Alt party was the alternative event of Friday night. A regular club night for Miss Kittys Diskotek and Cabaret at Dragonfly in Hollywood, Calif., there was a very cool cross-over effect between alt porners and the scene-ster kids who like what McKai is selling.

The place pulsed with a post-modern decadence; girl, boy and transgender go-go dancers mixed it up on the dance floor, while a throng of people took advantage of the warm, summer night outside on the club’s back patio.

Mckai was busy snapping pictures of latex nurse-clad Melodie Gore, star of Octavio Winkytiki’s new title for Vivid Alt, “Man’s Ruin.” The party was a second celebration for the film’s release (the first held last month ago at the Little Cave). Miss Kittys invited McKai to throw another event because Gore is a dancer at the club.

“The reason we’re doing a second party here is because this is the kind of interesting subculture that Melodie brings to the film,” McKai told XBIZ. “Usually, when we throw a party, we try to party with distributors and the actual subculture that will end up buying the movie. It makes sense to serve and satisfy a totally different audience.”

McKai also discussed various projects he’s working on, including his own “Doll Underground,” Dana DeArmond’s latest title featuring all amateur talent, Kimberly Kane’s directorial debut for Vivid-Alt and another film from Winkytiki. McKai said his version of “Debbie Does Dallas … Again” will street on Aug. 9th.

Winkytiki is working on a project for mainstream TV and noted that a lot of production people in adult turn up on mainstream sets and vice versa. He said a few years ago, during a Screen Actor’s Guild strike, production values in the adult industry simultaneously improved from the influx of crew people looking for film work.

“All the grips and all the cameramen,” Winkytiki said. “This is my first time working in mainstream and I hate it. I want to work in porn forever.”

Gore, who was sporting a bright pink polyester wig, told XBIZ that she and a friend designed the costumes for “Man’s Ruin.” Her influences for the designs came from Japanese animation.

“It’s actually the most fun thing I’ve ever done,” Gore said, “and it turned out so amazing, visually.”

Directress Vena Virago, who released “East Side Story” for Vivid-Alt, told a story about driving cross-country from New York to California with her dog. Later that night, an editor from Vivid called alt stud Tommy Pistol, who is currently driving cross-country to come to Los Angeles and direct his first project for Naughty America.

Other celebrities at the party included Dave Naz, Ashley Blue, Kimberly Kane, Reagan Maddox and Michelle Aston.
