FBI Continues 2257 Inspections

SUN VALLEY, Calif. — A team of FBI agents conducted a 2257 inspection Tuesday of specialty producer Filmco Productions and its gay and transsexual label Bacchus Releasing.

According to Filmco General Manager Steve B, the FBI was interested in five titles from the company. Steve B told XBIZ that the agents were not interested in any gay titles from Bacchus, but did inspect the records of two straight and three transsexual movies.

FBI spokeswoman Laura I. Miller confirmed the inspection to XBIZ.

“The FBI visited us around 11 a.m. and were very courteous and polite,” Steve B said. “Our records were in order so I guess they realized that when we say MILF on the box, these ladies really are MILFS. We also told [the FBI] that we were proud members of the Free Speech Coalition.”

Filmco employs a full-time records keeper to ensure the company’s model releases and documents are in order.

Ed DeRoo founded Filmco in the late 1970s. It primarily produces specialty content in niches such as older women, hairy, pregnant and lactating lines. Bacchus specializes in gay and transsexual titles. Combined, the companies’ library includes more than 3,000 titles. Totally Tasteless also is under the Filmco umbrella.

The other companies that have been subject to 2257 records inspections are Diabolic (July 24, 2006), Sebastian Sloane Productions (July 28, 2006), Robert Hill Releasing (Aug. 1, 2006), Sunshine Films (Aug. 16, 2006), Darkside Entertainment (Sept. 12, 2006), Evasive Angles (Sept. 27, 2006), Legend (Oct. 10, 2006), Pure Play Media (Nov. 16, 2006), K-Beech (Dec. 14, 2006), Moonlight Entertainment (May 3, 2007) and Shane’s World (May 7, 2007).

The FBI’s inspection of Bethlehem, Pa.-based Sebastian Sloane Productions was prompted by an unrelated search warrant.
