Variety: Adult Biz Has High Hopes for Oculus Go VR Headset

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Leaders in the adult biz have high hopes for the Oculus Go virtual reality headset, according to a new article published today in Variety.

With a screaming headline, “Oculus Go Porn,” Variety checked in with officials at two of the top leaders in adult VR — Naughty America and BaDoinkVR — to learn more about how the new device is gaining appeal with consumers.

New data suggests that more consumers are purchasing higher-end VR headsets and the usage of the cheaper cardboard versions are slowly declining.

But with this trend that likely will garner new VR users, XXX videos still can’t be found at the Oculus Store.

“Facebook’s latest attempt to popularize VR with its $200 Oculus Go headset is getting praise from an unexpected ally: Porn studios and their VR offshoots have high hopes for the device, with some even reporting that it is already helping to boost their revenue,” Variety wrote

Shot mostly in POV, adult VR content is now progressing to where traditional porn has moved to — the niches.

“[W]ith VR porn growing, there are now clips for many different tastes,” Variety wrote. “Audiences can even engage with super-heroines, thanks to sites like VRCosplay X (operated by BadoinkVR).”

“We expect it to serve as a major gateway to our content,” Xavi Clos, head of production at BaDoinkVR, told Variety.

“Facebook has emerged as an unexpected ally in the VR porn business. The Oculus Go is the perfect porn device,” Clos said.

The Oculus Go is “a game changer,” Naughty America CEO Andreas Hronopoulos noted.
