Would-Be Teacher Demands FBI Explain His 'Association' With Porn

ALEXANDRIA, La. — Teaching candidate John Rougeou has sued the FBI in Federal Court, demanding records that would “explain his association with pornographic materials." Rougeou wants to receive certification from the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to work as a teacher.

In the complaint, Rougeou claims he “is a private citizen that acted as an informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding a federal investigation of pornography in and around the Parish of Rapides," and that the FBI is improperly withholding proof of his informant status, which could prevent him from getting a job as a teacher. Counties in La. are called "parishes."

1st Amendment lawyer Jeffrey Douglas told XBIZ that the exact meaning of "association with pornographic materials" is not clear.

Special Agent Vovietta Morgan of the FBI office in Los Angeles told XBIZ that Bureau policy is to follow the Freedom of Information Act.

Rougeou's attorney was unavailable for comment.
