ASACP Returns to European Summit, Will Address Age Verification

LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has announced its return to The European Summit (TES), in Lisbon, Portugal, where it will deliver its message of promoting child safety to digital media business leaders.

According to its promoters, The European Summit is Europe’s leading B2B conference for the online entertainment industries. Set for March 2-5 at The Oitavas Hotel, in Cascais, this executive gathering unites representatives from the online affiliate, billing, casual dating, domain name, mobile technology, website services and traffic segments, for educational sessions, networking, social events and more, delivered with a European focus.

The large audience of decision-makers in attendance at TES discuss a range of critical topics, such as the need to protect children’s digital lives, providing a vital venue for educating the industry about the benefits and services offered by ASACP.

According to TES’ Andreas Bischoff, it is important for the industry to support ASACP and to help in the effort to protect children online.

“A truly remarkable team of individuals,” Bischoff says, “ASACP should constantly receive support from our entire industry.”

It is a sentiment the TES organizers take to heart, as always, providing ASACP with a display table at the event where information about the association will be available, along with prime banner and online ad placement to raise awareness of ASACP and its mission, as well as free show admission, plus a complimentary hotel room during the event dates, and more, for an exemplary level of support that underpins the effectiveness of ASACP’s European outreach efforts.

ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning will participate in the event, where he will meet and network with attendees while explaining the good work that the association does, the many successes it has achieved during its more than 21-year history, and more — including the role that the newest generation of age verification technology and services play in protecting children online — a current-event topic across Europe and beyond.

“The incredibly generous support that TES has shown over the years to ASACP and its mission of keeping children out of and away from adult entertainment is humbling for us, and is one of the sources of encouragement we rely upon to carry out that mission,” Henning says. “TES’ ongoing generosity helps the association educate companies about its Restricted To Adults (RTA) website label and Child Exploitation Tipline, as well as our insightful Best Practices and Code of Ethics, giving companies the tools they need so they can do the right thing.”

One highlight of Henning’s TES 2018 participation will come when he moderates an in-depth workshop on Age Verification, set for Sunday, March 4, from 5-5:50 p.m. The session will cover the latest updates from the BBFC including dates, details on what homepages work, feedback from industry, reminders of the law and need to comply as well as other details that have come to light. Panelists include Murray Perkins of the BBFC; Alastair Graham, CEO of AgeChecked; David Cooke, director of digital and new media for AgeID (MindGeek); Ben Jordan, director of Aristotle; and Stephen Winyard, chief marketing officer of AVSecure.

“Mandatory age verification is coming and site operators’ offering age-restricted content need to be prepared,” Henning concluded. “Fortunately, ASACP and a group of tech-forward companies are ready to help. This important educational session is a step in the right direction for attendees.”
