Mia Isabella Featured in Broadly Vice Article on Trans Rights

NEW YORK — Trans model Mia Isabella is featured in Broadly Vice’s article, “The Most Significant Moments for Trans Rights in 2016.”

“I was honored to learn that Broadly Vice considered my experience, my reaction and my ability to represent my perspective as a trans woman in the 21st century to be one of the most significant moments for the trans community in 2016,” Isabella said.

A spokesperson for Isabella said she became “tabloid fodder” in 2015 when her relationship with hip-hop star Tyga was revealed in the media.

“It was certainly one of the scariest times in my life,” Isabella said, “but I realize that if any hurt I might have endured helped someone, then it was all worth it. If it changed even just one heart and mind for the better, I am humbled.”

Broadly Vice reporter Diana Tourjee, herself a transsexual, interviewed Isabella in Feb. 2016 for the article “Beyond the Tyra Sex Scandal: The Real Life of Trans Porn Star Mia Isabella.”

“When this broke (in 2015), my first memory of Mia resurfaced,” Tourjee wrote. “It was an image of her nude body that I'd stumbled upon many years ago; I remember Mia's breasts were swollen in the photo above an upwardly angled phallus. Black sheets of straight hair fell over tan and ageless skin. She looked like she'd been pulled from Greek mythology. I was on the cusp of my own transition from male to female, and her image had a profound effect on me. It was this photo of Mia that made me realize that it's possible to change your sex.”
