Doc Johnson's Chad Braverman Interviewed on KABC Radio

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chad Braverman, Doc Johnson’s chief operating officer and chief compliance officer, yesterday was interviewed for a segment on KABC-AM (790) radio.

Braverman was a guest on “The Drive Home With Jillian Barberie and John Phillips.” On air, he discussed life as the successor to a sex toy empire, the company’s long-standing practice of local manufacturing, and being the first in the industry to mold adult stars for toys.

"That was first done by Doc Johnson about 35 years ago," Braverman said. "It was John Holmes."

Doc Johnson, the U.S.’s largest manufacturer of adult novelties, celebrates its 40th anniversary in business this year. The North Hollywood, Calif.-based company employs a staff of 500 at the its 215,000-square-foot campus.

On Doc Johnson's commitment to keeping the bulk of its product manufacturing in the U.S., Braverman said, "My dad [company founder Ron Braverman] knew that he could have made more profit with this company by going to China. But when you start something, you see what it means to wake up every morning and open up your doors to over 350 employees.

“We're lucky in regards to what business we are in," he said. "We've been able to weather a lot of storms, and it's something we've taken a lot of pride in."

Braverman’s company has been in the spotlight this week after the LA Weekly published a photo essay and full-length article on the sex toy company.

“It’s wonderful to be recognized by the local media as a company that’s making positive contributions to the greater Los Angeles community and leading others by example,” Braverman said. “When topics like job creation or buying American come up, not many people would immediately think of this industry, but for the past 40 years Doc Johnson has remained committed to manufacturing the vast majority of our products right here in California.”
