Kink.com to Launch Free VR Platform on Friday

SAN FRANCISCO — Kink.com is announcing that it will give away its first virtual reality shoots for free, beginning Friday.

The producer of BDSM and fetish entertainment said the long-awaited first VR shoots will be directed by Kink.com’s Fivestar and include a girl-girl scene and the first trans dominatrix VR scene.

Additional free scenes, encompassing different kinks, fetishes and sexualities, will be released each week between Friday and Jan. 1.

“We started experimenting with VR this summer, and were blown away by what it meant for BDSM and fetish films,” said Mike Stabile, spokesperson for Kink.com. “So much of what we do is about bringing the viewer in, about allowing them the fantasy of domination or submission. While I think there’s interest across the board in adult, for our audience, this is like going from black and white to color.”

Kink VR content will be separate from Kink.com itself, available for free on a Kink-branded tube site, Kink.com/VR.

The films will be downloadable in several different formats, including for Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR.

Stabile said that while other companies have been charging a premium for adult VR content, Kink.com believes strongly that adult consumers need to experience the content.

“We’re extremely bullish on VR,” Stabile said. “We’re amazed at what we’re able to produce, but this is still an experiment. These are beta shoots, and we wanted to engage with our audience. We figured the best way to reach consumers, and encourage feedback, was to make it available for free, and to figure out a way to monetize it later.”

The Kink VR will be available at Kink.com/VR beginning Friday. Visitors to the site, however, can sign up ahead of time to be notified as soon as the content is available.
