Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals on Burlesque Hall of Fame Panel

LAS VEGAS — Sociologist, author, and porn industry expert Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals will participate in the “Gender Identity in Burlesque” roundtable discussion on June 4 at the four-day Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The hour-long panel will discuss the ways gender is represented in burlesque and adult entertainment today, with a focus on gender identity. The panel includes burlesque dancer World Famous Bob, drag artist Lou Henry Hoover, burlesque dancer Michelle Baldwin, and gender-blending burlesque performer Waxie Moon. Burlesque performer/educator Jo Weldon will facilitate the discussion.

Tibbals brings to the panel her unique experience and insights on the adult industry as outlined in her upcoming book, “Exposure: A Sociologist Explores Sex, Society, and Adult Entertainment” due out July 7 by Greenleaf Book Group.

“I’m thrilled to join this exciting panel at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender,” Tibbals said. “It’s truly a wonderful opportunity to engage members of the burlesque community in sharing our varied expertise and views on gender. Burlesque is a powerful and engaging art form that is at the heart of adult entertainment today.”

The event runs from June 4-7, and features a variety of events and activities, such as the 25th Annual Miss Exotic World competition, Naked Girls Reading event, burlesque shows, classes, workshops and more.

Following the panel on June 4, Tibbals is scheduled to host a pre-release event for her book from 7-8 p.m. PDT at Hustler Hollywood, 6007 Dean Martin Drive in Las Vegas. She will lead a Q&A session, followed by a book signing. Advanced copies of the book will be available for purchase.
