James Deen’s ‘Pornstar Problems' Video Goes Viral

LOS ANGELES — James Deen’s Buzzfeed comedy video, “Pornstar Problems,” has gone viral since its April 3 posting on YouTube. The BuzzFeed.com produced video depicts a satirical day in the life of Deen, one of the most recognizable porn stars in the world.

The 2-minute and 36-second video features the four-time and reigning XBIZ Male Performer of the Year as he is blatantly hit on by would-be professionals. Deen experiences sexual exploitation at every turn, while trying to take care of daily errands, such as a bank transaction and doctor visit. Seemingly safe at home, Deen gets a surprise when he makes an advance on his girlfriend, played by BuzzFeed’s Gaby Dunn.

“I work at BuzzFeed now,” explained Deen. “They don’t know it, but my plan is to continue to raid the building and participate in as many videos as I am able until they have the authorities escort me off the premises.”

Playing himself in the self-deprecating manner, Deen has hit a chord among fans and others who have been watching the video since it was released. Already, it has 600,000 views and continues to grow.

James Deen is a longtime favorite celebrity of the BuzzFeed staff. Additional BuzzFeed videos featuring Deen include “Americans Taste Test Indonesian Snacks” and “Men Draw What Cramps Feel Like.” Deen is also the focus of numerous BuzzFeed articles, such as “15 Things You Might Not Know About Porn Star James Deen.”

The performer/director has been one of the industry’s top crossover stars. He recently filmed a guest star appearance on an episode of Showtime’s upcoming comedy “Happyish,” where he plays himself. The show’s first season is filming in New York and will premiere April 26, with Deen’s episode scheduled to air on June 7.

Deen also starred opposite Lindsay Lohan in 2013’s “The Canyons,” written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader. He was credited as a co-producer on the film.

Besides his adult and crossover work, Deen is also known for his namesake production house, James Deen Productions, whose movies are distributed by Girlfriends Films.
