Richelle Ryan Discusses Career

LOS ANGELES — Adult star Richelle Ryan told XBIZ Spring Training wasn’t limited to Major League Baseball players this year because she’s been doing some of her own.

“I’m practicing anal right now,” Ryan revealed. “Phoenix Marie has been helping me. Getting tips on anal from Phoenix Marie is like learning how to play baseball from Babe Ruth. She’s the queen of it.”

No argument here.

Now in her ninth year in the adult industry, Ryan said she’s been warming up to the idea of adding anal scenes to her repertoire. It’s part of her new focus to take her porn career to another level.

“For girls it’s all about building a brand,” Ryan said. “I want to be the new big-booty girl.”

So far, so good.

She recently performed in a booty-centric scene for Jules Jordan Video for one of Jordan’s upcoming releases. She's gone hardcore for Jordan’s company before, but never with Jordan himself.

“I loved it, I can’t wait to see that movie when it comes out. If anyone is good at showcasing the booty it’s Jules,” Ryan said. “I was like damn, my fucking ass looks huge! Huge in a good way.”

A native of Rochester, N.Y., who is a die-hard fan of the New York Giants, Ryan did her first porn scene with Joey Ray for SeeHerSquirt.com on her 21st birthday. She’s since amassed more than 150 movie credits, working for just about every major studio.

The performer took one extended break from 2008-10, and when she returned she elevated her feature-dancing career to the elite level, winning the 2013 Adult Movie Feature Entertainer of the Year honor at the Exotic Dancer Awards.

This weekend she’s featuring at T’s Ultra Lounge in West Palm Beach, Fla., and plans to continue dancing at her favorite clubs for two weekends a month while she shoots content for RichelleRyanOnline.com and does new DVD scenes.

She admits that her porn performing skills have improved considerably since the early days.

“When I first got in the business, I was such an eager beaver. I was like, ‘Just throw me in there, let’s go!’ I was having sex like I was having sex at home. But you can’t fuck the way you fuck at home the way you fuck in a porno. You’re making a product for consumers to buy. You have to be able to open up to the camera so they can see everything. It’s totally different,” Ryan said.

She has no issues with opening up for the camera these days. That’s why she’s become a regular with Brazzers and recently did a threeway scene with Julie Cash and Danny D called “Modern Museum of Fine Ass.”

“They painted our butts. Our butts were like works of art,” Ryan joked. “I’m just trying to capitalize on the whole big-booty thing. I don’t think a lot of people realize how big my butt is.”

Word seems to be getting out.

She also recently shot separate Brazzers scenes with Johnny Sins and Bill Bailey, and a Naughty America scene for an upcoming “I Have a Wife” volume with Seth Gamble, with whom she had not performed in almost five years.

“It’s great to be back in the industry on a regular schedule and working with some people I’ve never shot with before. I love it. I just wish the industry was as busy as it was before,” Ryan said.

Earlier this year, Ryan moved to Las Vegas after spending the past four years in Virginia, where she graduated from high school. She said she considered returning to L.A. but the quiet Vegas suburbs were calling her.

“I love Vegas. It's great because I'm still very close to L.A. but there are also a lot of the major porn companies out here that shoot on a regular basis,” Ryan said.

“I went up to Vegas when I was shooting for Naughty America last year and people were driving me around the suburbs. It was really chill and quiet. I kind of went out on my own, which was the same thing I did when I made the decision to move to L.A. in 2006. I checked out the area. It wasn’t super crazy. There was not a lot of traffic. My heart was just in Vegas. L.A. is just too overcrowded and there’s so much traffic.”

With the move West, Ryan also recently joined forces with ATMLA, which she calls “practically one big family.”

“I absolutely love Mark, Sandra and Brent. They are so organized and treat all of us girls fairly,” Ryan said.

When she’s not on the road dancing or on set, Ryan said she loves to workout and train, doing hot yoga sometimes twice a day and often six times a week.

“It’s so good. It clears your head," she said. "When you’re in the room nothing else matters."
