CineKink Film Festival to Open With Sheona McDonald's 'Inside Her Sex'

NEW YORK — CineKink announced that the U.S. premiere of “Inside Her Sex” is the "Season Opener" selection for its 12th annual film festival, CineKink NYC, running Feb. 24-March 1.

Directed by Sheona McDonald, the documentary explores female sexuality, and its intersection with shame, through the eyes and experiences of three women — Candice, Elle and Samantha. While the women have little in common, each have faced their sexual selves head on, choosing to step outside the bounds of what society has dictated and find their own way forward.

“’Inside Her Sex’ is a fascinating look at the many ways in which we're told and taught to view ourselves sexually, and how we might move beyond that," said Lisa Vandever, co-founder and director of CineKink. "It's also a perfect film to launch this year's festival, one in which female sexual expression, and female creativity, are especially prominent."

“Inside Her Sex” will screen on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at Anthology Film Archives, where the majority of CineKink NYC's screenings are being held.

Several other programs in the festival line-up will continue CineKink's focus on female pleasure and self-expression, including “Lust Stories,” a collection of shorts from female directors, and “A Tribute to Club 90,” which will bring together four denizens of NYC's "Golden Era of Porn" — Veronica Hart, Candida Royalle, Annie Sprinkle and Veronica Vera — for a rare public appearance and some frank reminiscing.

CineKink NYC kicks off Tuesday, Feb. 24, with a gala fundraising party at Taj Lounge and runs through Sunday, March 1, concluding with an awards ceremony and an AfterGlow closing party.
