Anikka Albrite Discusses 2015 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year Award

LOS ANGELES — Anikka Albrite told XBIZ she was feeling just a bit jet-lagged on the night of Jan. 15 at the XBIZ Awards in downtown L.A.

Albrite and her adult star husband Mick Blue had just recently returned from a trip to Blue’s native Austria for the holidays, but they still made their way to the JW Marriott for the 13th annual ceremony, where Albrite won the 2015 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year award in front of a capacity crowd inside the Platinum Ballroom.

“I remember being a little tired that night but this just kind of knocked me out of my tiredness and totally woke me up,” Albrite said.

“Everybody was cheering me on and Mick filmed the whole thing on his phone, it was so cute. I’m glad the stage was right there by our table because I was so nervous I might’ve tripped over something if it was farther away.”

Albrite, a Denver native with a degree in molecular biology that started her porn career in 2011, was sitting at her agent Mark Spiegler’s table when her name was announced.

“I thought oh my god, this is so surreal. I definitely wasn’t expecting it at all,” Albrite confessed. “I was completely overwhelmed and excited.”

So much so that she forgot to thank her No. 1 fan.

“I was in so much shock that I forgot to thank my husband,” Albrite joked. “I was trying to remember who to thank and I was thinking business-wise, I wasn’t thinking personal. But Mick has been my biggest supporter of all.

“It was funny because I remembered as I was almost off the stage and I wanted to run back and grab the microphone… I went on social media and fixed that later.

“I thanked XBIZ. I thanked my agent Spiegler, the producers and directors who shot me and my PR team [Rising Star]. I thanked all the performers who I had gotten to work with over the years as well.”

Before the night was over Albrite also received another award, winning Best Scene - Couples Release for her tryst with the 2011 XBIZ Male Performer of the Year Tommy Gunn in “Untamed Heart.”

In the movie Albrite plays a woman who is having doubts about her engagement when she falls for a biker played by Gunn.

“I think it was pretty awesome. I remember really enjoying working on that movie that was directed by Barrett Blade for Adam & Eve,” Albrite said. “Tommy is such an awesome guy to work with. I was stoked that I got that, plus Female Performer of the Year. I felt really honored to get both awards.”

The honors capped a special year for Albrite, who demonstrated exceptional versatility by moving smoothly between hardcore gonzo scenes and feature roles.

Several high-profile titles fueled her year, including the Hard X showcase “Anikka 2” in which she did her first double-penetration scene and first interracial for her favorite director Mason.

The former lab technician also excelled as the main character in “The Long Hard Ride,” a western directed by Nick Orleans for Adam & Eve; and in a supporting role in Axel Braun’s “Sleeping Beauty XXX” for the Wicked Fairy Tales line. Not surprisingly, Albrite did an anal scene in the XBIZ Award-winning Gonzo Release of the Year, “Ass Worship 15” for Jules Jordan Video as well. She’s now racked up more than 250 credits since making her porn debut.

“This was the year where I really gained a lot of confidence in my scenes,” Albrite said. “I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work for a wide variety of companies and do not just gonzo, but features as well. That helped me grow as an actress and as a performer. I had a really incredible year. I don’t think there was one experience that stood out more than any other. It was a growing process and it left me with more confidence in myself I think.”

Albrite said her schedule for 2015 already is taking shape. At press time she was preparing for new scenes for Twistys, Digital Playground and Hard X again.

In addition, she said she’d like to do more features and travel this year.

“And I want to open my own production studio with Mick and get that moving. Those are my goals for 2015,” Albrite said.
