Takedown Piracy’s Nate Glass Earns 2015 XBIZ Executive Award Nom

LOS ANGELES — Takedown Piracy owner Nate Glass is nominated for the “Progressive Leadership Award” at the upcoming 2015 XBIZ Executive Awards

As the adult industry’s most renowned anti-piracy expert and advocate, Glass is on a mission to protect copyright content from theft.  Along the way, he continues to garner mass amounts of media attention on piracy, as well as the adult industry as a whole.

As stated on XBIZExecAwards.com, nominees for the Progressive Leadership Award are pioneers blazing unknown trails to explore what’s on the horizon and adopt new strategies often becoming standard practices for years to come.  Their risks often go hand in hand with their creativity.

“Thank you so much to everyone at XBIZ for this honor — I’m shocked, moved, and proud,” says Glass.  “XBIZ has been a great supporter of Takedown Piracy over the years, for which I am extremely appreciative.”

Though grateful for the nomination, Glass’ path to grow one of the most effective and well-known anti-piracy services in the world did not stem from a desire to be liked.  In fact, it has made him one of the most hated men on the Internet, often receiving death threats from digital pirates.

Earlier this year, tech website DailyDot.com referred to Glass as a “polarizing figure on the Internet,” and the “Luke Skywalker” of piracy, though Forbes.com previously dubbed him the “Darth Vader of porn piracy.”

Additional 2014 media attention surrounding Glass and Takedown Piracy includes being prominently featured on ABC’s “Nightline,” as well as expert commentary in articles from Men’s Health, BBC News, USA Today, Wired.com, Annenberg TV News, Huffington Post, Salon, Washington Post, Creative Loafing, and more.

Glass also spoke with Wicked Pictures contract performer Jessica Drake at two top universities this year — University of Chicago and University of Southern California.  Their lecture on “The Piracy of Sex” is detailed in a feature article on popular tech site BetaBeat.com.

“It’s been a crazy year of new developments, media coverage, speaking engagements, and battling piracy, but this XBIZ nomination really is one of the highlights,” says Glass.  “It reminds of the reason I do this — for my friends and colleagues in the industry who I greatly respect and want to help protect.”

Takedown Piracy recently released its exclusive digital fingerprinting program as an application in its Nemesis tool, which will be showcased at the 2015 XBIZ 360 event in Los Angeles.

The XBIZ Executive Awards will be held on January 14 at the Andaz Hotel, 8401 Sunset Blvd., in West Hollywood.
