Brazzers.me Domain Name Ordered Transferred to MindGeek

LOS ANGELES — MindGeek attorneys last week were successful in getting Brazzers.me transferred over to the adult entertainment conglomerate.

Brazzers.me, which apparently launched in the spring, appears as an ordinary adult tube site but yields a punishing amount of full-screen interstitial ads for non-adult products — tactics commonly used in fake advertising traffic schemes.

The site's registered operator is "Holly Petersen" of Kirkland, Wash., who did not respond to the UDRP case filed at WIPO.

The site was ordered transferred last week after sole arbitrator Debrett G. Lyons found Brazzers.me was registered and used in bad faith.

Attorneys for the 10-year-old brand, which received a trademark registration in 2009, alleged in the case that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to Brazzers' trademark and that Petersen has no rights or legitimate interests in it. Lyons agreed.

MindGeek's Brazzers.com is one of the top adult entertainment membership networks with 30 websites. Branded as the "world's best HD porn site," Brazzers.com offers more than 5,000 downloadable and streaming videos, as well as live shows, on its sites.

MinkGeek's licensing division was represented in the case by Los Angeles-based Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp LLP.
