Axel Braun to Launch Wicked Comix With 'Barbarella XXX'

LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures on Friday announced that production has started on "Barbarella XXX: An Axel Braun Parody," the first entry for Wicked Comix, a new imprint dedicated exclusively to comic book parodies. All Wicked Comix titles will be helmed by three-time XBIZ Director Of The Year Axel Braun.

Featuring an all-star cast headlined by Axel Braun Productions contract girl Riley Steele in the titular role, and Wicked Girl Asa Akira as the Great Tyrant, "Barbarella XXX" is being billed as a sexy, tongue-in-cheek spoof of Jean-Claude Forest's sci-fi comic strip. Just like in the 1968 Roger Vadim adaptation starring Jane Fonda, Barbarella travels the universe to prevent mad scientist Durand-Durand from bringing war to a peaceful galaxy...and has sex with just about anybody she encounters along the way.

“I've been wanting to make this movie for a really long time, and with the recent news that Amazon has green-lit a 'Barbarella' TV series, it felt like the timing was finally perfect," Braun said. “Riley is absolutely perfect as Barbarella, and Asa as the Great Tyrant is just terrific. I think it’s a perfect way to launch Wicked Comix, and I hadn't done 60’s camp since 'Batman XXX,' so I’m having a ball.”

Steele seems thrilled about the project: “I’m such a huge fan of the original, I love Jane Fonda and all that era, and the script is incredible! I’m so happy that Axel gave me the opportunity to play such an iconic role, and I’m especially galvanized because I get to finally have sex with Asa! This movie is a dream come true in so many ways!"

Braun's latest undertaking is also bringing fantasies to life for Akira.

"When I watched 'Barbarella' as a teenager, I had no idea that I'd one day be playing the porn version of The Great Tyrant!" Akira said. "I'm so excited to be working with Axel again, now that we are both with Wicked Pictures. I can't wait for the world to see all my elaborate costumes — his wardrobe team has really gone above and beyond. The best part though, for me, is that I get to have sex with both ABP contract girls in this movie — Riley and Aiden are both drop-dead gorgeous, and I can't wait to get my hands on them!"

Steele and Akira will share the attention of Pygar, the blind angel played by Michael Vegas, in a torrid three-way scene, while Akira will also perform in a girl-girl scene and will get a chance to show her acting chops.

"Barbarella XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" will hit stores on DVD in January 2015.
