Camera Being Auctioned to Raise Funds for Queer Community

SAN FRANCISCO — Pink & White Productions is auctioning one of its original video cameras on EBay over San Francisco Pride Weekend in an effort to raise money for the Bay Area queer community.

Co-director Shae Voyeur used the Panasonic AG-DVX100A camera in 2005 to film the company’s breakthrough debut film, “The Crash Pad.”

The organizers said the camera still retails for about $800. Bids starts at $400, with 20 percent of proceeds above $400 to be donated to CUAV (Communities United Against Violence), a non-profit that works to build the power of LGBTQQ communities to transform violence and oppression.

"I picked it up brand new at $2,750 when it came out in 2004," Voyeur said. "At that time, it was the hot camera for independent filmmakers. CNET called it 'the kind of camera that sends shivers down the spines of pro videographers and serious amateurs with modest budgets.'”

The auction runs seven days and ends on July 1.
