California Exotic Novelties Nominated for Two ETO Awards

LOS ANGELES — California Exotic Novelties, a leader of innovation in adult novelties, is pleased to announce that it has received two ETO Award nominations: one for company president and CEO Susan Colvin for Service to the Industry, and one for the Apollo Power Stroker, as Best New Male Product.

California Exotic Novelties is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, underscoring Colvin’s contribution to the industry over the past two decades as a renowned female leader. Coming from a time when video dominated the marketplace, Colvin and the team at California Exotic Novelties revolutionized the way pleasure products are made and marketed across the industry: such as creating pulsating vibrators that are made in the U.S., designing butterfly-style vibrators and manufacturing a talking vibrator.

Colvin’s goal then, as it is today, is to make toys that are reliable, innovative, and made with the consumer in mind, with many “famous firsts” that California Exotic Novelties pioneered during the past 20 years. These include having an all-women product development team, bringing an eco-friendly, solar-powered toy to market and making products using 100 percent premium silicone.

Among Colvin’s other achievements was to make packaging a priority and creating collections with personality; introducing feminine colors such as pink and purple. Marketing the original Jack Rabbit, introducing rechargeable rabbit-style vibrators, releasing a line of waterproof toys, and making a remote-control egg-style vibrator are also under her belt.

Advertising and following up with manufacturer warranties through Vibetronics, conforming to EU directives as an early adapter of RoHS and WEEE standards for motors, even though there was no requirement to do so in the in U.S., and having company sales staff travel on the road, visiting stores and customers, are all part of Colvin’s legacy.

“I’m honored to be nominated, especially on the 20th anniversary of the company. It is the people here at CalExotics who make the difference and we’re having a great time celebrating our 20th anniversary,” Colvin stated, adding, “A big thank you to Dale and Lee and everyone at ETO magazine for your support — we appreciate the nominations.”

Voting for the 2014 ETO Awards closes on Friday, June 6. Registered users can vote now at www.erotictradeonly.com.
