Center for Sex & Culture Announces 'Give OUT Day'

SAN FRANCISCO — The Center for Sex & Culture (CSC) announced that Give OUT Day, the national day of giving to LGBTQ and allied organizations across the country, is slated for May 15.

In 2013, Give OUT Day reportedly raised more than $600,000, from 5,474 individuals in support of over 400 nonprofit groups across the country.

The Center for Sex & Culture raised more $15,000 in a single day, which its representatives say helped support them throughout the rest of the year, and helped build their new Development and Outreach Programs.

“Every donor we get will help us directly and will help us claim our share of awards from participating grantors, like our friends at Horizons Foundation,” a CSC spokesperson said. “Last year we placed high on the national leader board. This year we hope to do even better, but we need your help.”

Those interested in donating can schedule a donation for May 15 ahead of time here or donate on the day itself.

The CSC says it will receive prizes and incentives for every individual donation regardless of the dollar amount, and encourages signal boosts and modest donations.

Those interested in following CSC’s progress and/or want to help build buzz around the event, can follow their social media accounts, as well as the hashtags #giveOUTday and #sexandculture.

Founded by sexologists Dr. Carol Queen and Robert Morgan Lawrence in 2000, the Best of the Bay winning nonprofit Center for Sex & Culture houses a library, gallery, archive and hosts sex education and cultural events.
