LONDON —The Department of Work and Pensions, headed by Iain Duncan Smith, has extended subsidized wage subsidies to porn industry employers willing to take on Britain’s jobless youth.
But there is a caveat — the subsidies only apply to production-oriented jobs. Employers will receive no such financial breaks for hiring young performers, Slate reported today.
According to the DWP, compliant companies will receive a £2,275 wage incentive for hiring the young-and-workless.
Taking on part-time employees, the companies will garner only a slightly diminutive £1,137.50 in wage subsidies.
"This government took action to ensure jobs in the adult industry which might exploit jobseekers were not advertised through Jobcentre Plus," a DWP spokesperson said.
They added, "We also ensured that to be eligible for our schemes jobs must not exploit vulnerable jobseekers."
