LOS ANGELES — Keiran Lee told XBIZ that “Hot Chicks Big Fangs,” the first feature movie of his directing career, began streaming online today at Digital Playground’s official website with the DVD scheduled to hit the streets on Nov. 5.
Lee hand-picked the high-profile cast for the vampire-themed thriller, which stars Bonnie Rotten, Nikki Benz, Monique Alexander, Destiny Dixon and Romi Rain.
The film, which Lee described as a porn version of “‘The Cabin in the Woods’ meets ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’” makes use of some elaborate stunts and CGI effects to simulate the supernatural.
“James [the creative director] from Digital Playground just came aboard and he used to do a lot of special effects on mainstream movies and things like that,” Lee told XBIZ Monday. “He knows me from Brazzers, and he called me and said, ‘I want you to shoot a feature movie for me on the 27th and 28th.’ I presumed he meant October. I said, ‘No problem. This gives me a good month to get something ready.’ He said, ‘No, I mean next week. I want to do a Halloween movie.’ So me being me, I said, ‘Yeah, fine.’”
That gave Lee, already one of the busiest performer/directors in the industry, just six days of pre-production to prepare for the two-day shoot in late September.
“So I brainstormed with [Kirsten Price]. We sat down and came up with the script about these vampire girls,” Lee said.
He co-wrote the screenplay with Price, who also styled each girl in their vampire costumes. “She’s a real creative writer. I was pitching up the idea, she was typing. It was a joint effort,” Lee said. “She styled every single girl and did an absolutely amazing job.”
The stunt work included using a crane to hoist the vampire girls more than 60 feet in the air for jumping sequences, Lee said.
“My biggest compliment has to go to Romi Rain,” he said. “We shot all the sex and all the dialogue and the final stunt of the day was her and it was 2 a.m., and it was absolutely freezing where we shot. She went into the pool and it was freezing cold, and she gets hoisted out of the pool so it looks like she is jumping out of the water.”
The sex scene pairings include Bonnie Rotten and Bill Bailey, Destiny Dixon and Mick Blue, Romi Rain and Clover, Monique Alexander and Erik Everhard and Nikki Benz and John Strong.
“I always want an all-star cast. I had so much luck in the sense I managed to get the girls, five girls that I really, truly respect in the industry for their performance and the way they are on the set. They are absolute diamonds to work with,” said Lee, who did not perform in the movie. “I wanted to be more behind the camera paying attention to every little detail to make sure it was perfect. I was very tempted to put myself into the movie. A day before, we had two cancellations on male talent and one cancellation on female talent. So 24 hours before the shoot, it was absolute chaos.”
Lee continued, “The biggest challenge was pulling off the stunts to make them look realistic. I didn’t want them to look like the average Joe porn where you can tell it looks cheap and not choreographed properly. The one with Romi, we only had one shot at it. Because she was submerged in water and she was freezing and her makeup would’ve been destroyed.
“And trying to fit Nikki Benz into a harness with the size of her boobs is kind of tricky.”
The story follows three guy friends stranded on an isolated road when their car breaks down on Halloween night. A mysterious woman lures them back to her home with the promise of shelter and a phone call. What they discover instead is an all-girl Halloween bash.
“The film is beautiful and exciting and delivers what our fans expect: quality storytelling, big production values, and, of course, scorching sex,” James said. “In addition, Keiran’s enthusiasm as a new feature director shines through in his creative choices and technical approach to filmmaking. It’s fresh, thrilling, and a perfect fit for DP as we expand our offerings.”
Lee said plans call for him to shoot two features a month for Digital Playground, as well as a POV gonzo line in addition to the 15 scenes he directs every month for Brazzers. The native of Derby, England is also producing a talk show for Playboy TV that he will also host.
Meanwhile, the director revealed he is developing a movie that will be shot entirely around Nikki Benz, as well as a “mini-series” that he likened to episodic shows such as “Boardwalk Empire” and “Mad Men.”
“We’d like to bring that to the porn world,” he said.
