Dr. Sadie Allison to Give TEDx Talk

SAN FRANCISCO — The Passion Project is less essentially sexy than the name suggests. The TEDx Golden Gate Park event on Oct. 9 spotlights twelve speakers’ dedication to innovative ideas pertaining to all kinds of things, like science, sports, business, spirituality and academia — and, coincidentally in the case of Dr. Sadie Allison, sex.

“They invited me to speak because they wanted someone saucy in the mix,” Allison joked.

In reality, Allison has etched out a national presence as a San Francisco-based entrepreneur, helming her novelty brand Tickle Kitty, and, with five published sex-help books to date, an educational powerhouse.

As a member of the TEDX Passion Project Panel, she says will speak about the obstacles and prejudices she overcame working in the world of sexuality.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the TEDx Passion Project, and I’m really looking forward to sharing how passion has shaped my personal and professional life.” she said.

Growing up in the 70s with “free loving hippy” parents, she said there was no negativity or bad messages around sex in her household; and, by highschool, she was already the go-to girl for her friends seeking advice about self-pleasure.

“I was that uninhibited girl that would talk about sex out loud, and I would teach friends how to orgasm. And then one day my girlfriend called me back the next day and she went ‘It worked! It worked!!’ and that’s when I had my ‘aha moment,’” she told XBIZ, explaining how she found her calling as a pleasure coach and sexual educator.

The Passion Project will take place on Oct. 9 at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. The event is already sold out. For more information about the event, including a roster of the other speakers, click here.

TED was founded in 1984; the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. The annual TED conference brings together some of the world's leading thinkers. In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED created a program called TEDx where x means it is an independently organized event.
