Ovidie's Mainstream 'Sexual Freedom' to Street in July
PHILADELPHIA — French auteur crossover Ovidie will release the third installment of her erotic mainstream trilogy, “Sexual Freedom,” on DVD July 16.
FrenchLover TV, a division of CanalSet, and Breaking Glass Pictures collaborated to produce the film.
“This final installment is the perfect finale to the 'Sex Stories' trilogy,” Breaking Pictures co-president Richard Ross said. “Ovidie combined classic French eroticism with a modern day feminist perspective.”
Using reality TV as a framing device, “Sexual Freedom” confronts anormative sexuality and contemporary culture through the eyes of Ovidie’s character, Leonie-Marie.
Leonie-Marie, a journalist working for a reality show that explores sexual subcultures, is sent on assignment to visit a swinger’s commune in the French countryside.
The community she encounters challenges her conventional beliefs about love and sex as she delves deeper into her subjects’ “free love” philosophy.
"Human being are so rich," a commune resident says on the mock-TV show, "Why limit yourself to just one partner?"
The unrated and uncensored DVD will include the full-length documentary “Eye of Liza” shot by porn star Liza Del Sierra, who appears in “Sexual Freedom.”
Following her departure as an adult performer in 2003, Ovidie has become a regular director of female-friendly films for Marc Dorcel and is now the program director for FrenchLoverTV, a sex-ed channel.
