James Deen Lands Role in Mainstream Film 'Novel'

LOS ANGELES — James Deen has landed the lead role in an upcoming mainstream film called "Novel" from writer/director Samuel Gonzalez Jr.

The role marks the second mainstream project for Deen, the reigning XBIZ Male Performer of the Year who starred opposite Lindsay Lohan in "The Canyons" which is due out later this year.

Deen plays D.B. Cooper., who is notorious for hijacking a Boeing 727 on Nov. 24, 1971, parachuting from the plane in mid-air and never being positively identified or captured.

In a Lookbook preview from Gonzalez, "Novel" is described as "a modern-day thriller noir" that will blend three unsolved conspiracies together.

"A young and struggling writer takes a job from the government to write the next classic novel, The Catcher in the Rye," according to the summary. "Unaware of their intentions, he stumbles upon a conspiracy that will use his book to help murder influential American figures while unintentionally becoming involved in the most unsolved conspiracy theories of our time. This is the D.B. Cooper story."

The release date and distribution for "Novel" have yet to be determined. To see a teaser trailer, click here.

Deen, who also won the Crossover Star of the Year Award at the 2013 XBIZ Awards in January, confirmed his role in the movie, but could not discuss specifics at post time.
