Axel Braun to Speak at University of Chicago Sex Week

CHICAGO — Acclaimed adult producer/director Axel Braun will be the featured speaker on Feb. 16 at the first annual Sex Week at the University of Chicago.

Braun, winner of the 2013 XBIZ Parody Director of the Year Award will speak after a screening of his film “Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody,” winner of the 2013 XBIZ Comedy Parody of the Year Award.

The organizers said the seven-day on-campus Sex Week program is featuring 40 events on a wide range of sex-related issues. According to the Chicago Maroon newspaper, Braun, “who has directed over 400 adult films, is arguably the biggest star who has signed on to participate.”

Third-year student Angela Wang, an organizer of the event, said of the agreement by Braun to participate, “I got pretty lucky with that one.”

Braun will talk about his career in the adult film business and will focus on his success in the past several years producing best-selling parodies of comic icons such as Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and others that have been praised by the “fan-boy” universe for their meticulous attention to detail and high production values.

“I salute the organizers of Sex Week at the University of Chicago for putting together a great program that treats sex and sexuality with respect. It should provide students with much needed information, and it is a great honor for me to participate in it,” Braun said.

Wang said the goal of the Sex Week programs “is to have people realize the importance of communicating about sex and making sex into a more deliberate thing. People understand that it’s an integral part of their lives but I don’t think a lot of people take the time to or they don’t have the tools to examine it.”

In addition to Braun's presentation, events include panels on “Great Oral Sex," "Anal 101" and on Feb. 17,  a “I Heart Art Day,” featuring a giant Twister board and a warning not to bring dates.
