Sweetest Day is Saturday, Oct. 20 this year, always celebrated on the third Saturday of October.
The holiday was created in 1922 by a candy company employee who wanted to make sure that those otherwise forgotten got a small gift. The holiday has since gained popularity as a romantic holiday, with lovers exchanging gifts.
