Good Vibrations Announces Film Festival Call for Entries

SAN FRANCISCO — Filmmakers of all stripes are being invited to submit their erotic shorts to Good Vibrations’ 7th annual Indie Erotic Quickies Competition.

The company said the festival would showcase films from around the world. “The term 'erotic' is as broad as the number of people who use it, and filmmakers are invited to share shorts of any genre or orientation provided they are 7 minutes or less.”

Finalists will be screened at the Castro Theatre on Friday, October 26 where the Audience Choice Winner will receive $1,500.

Films in the collection usually have a comedic bent and include a wide variety of tastes and budgets, reflecting a more diverse and entertaining sexual range than in mainstream media, Good Vibrations maintained.

The festival was awarded SF Weekly’s "Best Place to see your (Talented and Attractive) Neighbors Naked," and last year’s crop included neighbors from New Zealand, Mexico, France, Israel, North America and beyond with films like “Me or the Porn,” “Dildo Sport,” “Burger Time” and “La Putiza” exploring everything from relationship ultimatums to superhero sex.

Whether it’s funny, serious, explicit, asexual, straight, queer, kinky, romantic, documentary, parody, animation, music video, or something else entirely, Good Vibrations said “guests can enjoy a smorgasbord of erotic delights.”

Indie film queen and drag celebrity, Peaches Christ, and Good Vibrations’ own staff sexologist Dr. Carol Queen will welcome guests to the competition that begins with a pre-party with live music, burlesque, cocktails, hors d’ouevres, and give aways.

“Thirty-five years as the original sex-positive, female and couples-friendly adult retailer has given us a real appreciation for the diversity of human sexuality and the Quickies film competition is a fun way to celebrate it with cinema. Creativity, originality, and humor come together for an outrageous night that everyone can enjoy,” festival producer Camilla Lombard said.

The event kicks offs Good Vibrations’ first annual Sex Summit conference on America’s sexual state of the union to be held at the downtown Marriot Marquis. The conference will examine the relationship between sex and the media, health, pop culture, and politics in a series of panels and keynote presentations.

Deadline for Quickies submissions is June 30 and submission is free.
