Entrenue Distributing BDSM Best Seller ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

PHOENIX — Entrenue has tied down Vintage Books' best selling BDSM novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" for the adult retail market. The boutique distributor said in a press release today that the E.L. James-penned romance story has become "one of the most requested books Entrenue has ever stocked."

“‘50 Shades of Grey’ has unexpectedly changed the way modern men and women look at the BDSM lifestyle, rousing curiosity to read about this young ‘vanilla’ woman’s entry into a world that most of us consider kinky and forbidden,” Entrenue Brand & Marketing Director Lisa Mazurek said.

“This novel without a doubt is helping to mainstream bondage, restraint and role-playing," Mazurek continued. "[It] has inspired a sexual awakening similar to that which erupted when ‘The Story of O’ and “Nine and a Half Weeks’ debuted years ago.”

"Fifty Shades of Grey," the first book in a trilogy that currently sits atop of The NY Times Best Sellers List (Print and E-book editions combined), has been dubbed "Mommy Porn" for its appeal to women over 30.

The book's phenomenal success is comparable to that of Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" and Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” trilogy. A film adaptation is already in the works at Focus Features, the arthouse/indie arm of Universal Pictures.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" follows the kink-fueled love affair that develops between 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and his submissive conquest, a 22-year-old college virgin named Anastasia Steele.

The ups-and-downs of the couple's relationship are further explored in the sequels "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." The novels are the first works from British author James, a former TV executive and mother of two.
