Playboy Argentina Uses 'Strip Karaoke' to Market Issue

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — An interactive marketing campaign that blends karaoke with nudity was launched by Argentina’s Playboy magazine.

The issue that featured media babe and rock groupie Mariana Diarco (who’s often compared to Carmen Electra) has an online component where users sing karaoke and Diarco strips.

Curious readers have to connect a microphone to their computers to start the action on the site where "You could actually feel you were a rock star and Mariana was a groupie."

Created by Playboy and Grey Buenos Aires advertising, the stunt was said to be a YouTube viral hit despite the clip itself claiming just 1900 visits in its first three weeks.

Adweek reported that the promotion follows an audio print ad wrapped around the spine of the Brazil edition of Playboy for the Skol Sensation music festival that had a mini-chip inserted in the ad, allowing users to listen to an audio message whispered by a sultry young woman.
