Former Torture Portal Operator Gets Home Confinement

MIAMI — Barry Goldman, the former operator of Torture Portal who last year made a plea deal with prosecutors over federal obscenity charges to avoid prison, has been ordered to six months home confinement with electronic monitoring for violating probation.

Goldman was convicted last year of violating 18 U.S.C. § 1461 for mailing obscene material, but in a plea deal that meant a supervised release and he was spared up to five years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.

With the plea deal, he also was ordered to forfeit all copies of the videos and agree to not contribute to the operation of TorturePortal.com and MastersOfPain.com.

But because Goldman violated his probation, U.S. Judge Ursula Ungaro modified his sentence, which was disclosed publicly on Monday.

A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service told XBIZ that the probation violation stemmed from Goldman's association with a known prostitute.

Goldman's relationship with the 22-year-old prostitute was clear, according to the charges — he had pimped out the prostitute.

The prostitute, according to an XBIZ source, was transgender and lured to the Miami area from  New Jersey by Goldman via an online post in May.

In August, Goldman agreed to plead guilty to one count of violating terms of his supervised release after he was served with a warrant for his arrest.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Goldman allegedly derived support from the proceeds of prostitution, a state law violation and third degree felony, and committed the offense of human sex trafficking.

He also was charged with making false statements to the government and committed wire fraud and failed to submit a truthful a complete written monthly report in May.

Goldman originally was indicted by a federal grand jury for the distribution of “Torture of a Porn Store Girl,” “Defiant Crista Submits” and “Pregnant and Willing” through the mail.

The videos were mailed in 2006 and 2007.
