VAN NUYS, Calif. — A special "Fashionista Safado" combination epic from Evil Angel founder John Stagliano that includes adult star Sasha Grey’s hardcore debut is set for release April 28.
The deluxe box set includes the films “Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge” and “Fashionistas Safado: Berlin” in a 10-disc HD/Blu-ray package and six-disc standard defintion set.
Originally conceived as a single work and divided into sequential four-hour-plus epics, the films will be recombined and released in two formats: as a six-disc set including four standard-definition DVDs and two CDs of original soundtrack music, and as a 10-disc set including four high-definition Blu-Ray discs plus the standard-def DVDs and the music CDs. The Blu-ray discs will not be sold separately.
Evil Angel said the box set will feature the entire film with a running time of eight hours and 40 minutes, the length of four or five conventional movies.
The box sets, descibed by the company as "among the most lavish in the history of adult entertainment,” will also include a three-hour DVD of extras and a color booklet of movie photography with the director’s new liner notes.
Stagliano said, “As pretentious as this sounds, I think of ‘Safado’ as my masterpiece.”
The movie won nine adult industry awards including Best Director for Stagliano, Best Group Sex Scene and Best Art Direction.
Stagliano said the movie’s themes are more relevant than ever.
“Witness the artistic expression of mainstream superstar Rihanna,” noted Stagliano, referring to an S&M-oriented video by the recording artist being recently re-categorized into the restricted area on YouTube.
He added, “The idea of S&M, that some people choose to experience pain in sex play, is intriguing to most humans. ‘Safado’ simply goes further than what is allowed in polite society. The idea in art is a proven success. It appeals to the most basic of human instincts: the struggle for survival.”
“Fashionistas Safado” also includes performances by adult stars including Rocco Siffredi, Belladonna, Melissa Lauren, Katsuni, Jenna Haze, Gianna, Annette Schwarz and Nacho Vidal.
Evil Angel maintained that perhaps the movie’s biggest sensation is the hardcore debut of 18-year-old Sasha Grey. “Sasha Grey threw herself into this rough sex orgy with abandon. Her first sex scene became the topic of discussion throughout the industry,” Stagliano said.
The movie also includes fetish fashion, acrobatic aerialists and dancers from Stagliano’s “Fashionistas” stage show, edgy S&M in European sex clubs and intense hardcore action.
Extras include behind-the-scenes footage and commentary by Stagliano, Grey, Siffredi and Lauren.
