Lee Garland Passes Away

LOS ANGELES — Lee Garland, one of the adult industry's most beloved makeup artists, died Saturday from prostate cancer.

September Dawn of Adult Talent Managers confirmed the news of his passing Saturday with a message on HelpLeeGarland.com, a site that was created in December by Dyanna Lauren and friends to aid in his cancer battle.

"It is with great sadness that I post that Lee passed away January 29th 2011, from stage four prostate cancer," Dawn wrote. "He was a creative genius, an amazing artist, a spiritual guide and a teacher. He truly made an impact on each and every person who knew Lee. With his beliefs in metaphysics, spirituality, abundance and Law of Attraction he literally helped change people's lives.

"He was my best friend, my mentor, my creative inspiration and my comic relief. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled. I know that he is with the angels he knew so well.

"I love you and miss you Lee."

Garland built a reputation as one of the industry's best in his 20-plus years on the set. He was a fixture on high-profile movie shoots with every major studio and he became a favorite of several of adult's biggest stars. He did makeup extensively for companies such as Vivid, Hustler, Wicked and Club Jenna. He was even prominently featured in E!'s "Jenna Jameson: True Hollywood Story."

In addition to his film production work, Garland also did the makeup and styling for scores of magazines and erotic art books. He got into adult after several years in the mainstream entertainment industry. In addition to doing makeup, he also was an actor, writer and director.

Several industry personalities shared their sentiments about Garland on Twitter Saturday.

Director Axel Braun called him "the most talented makeup artist I've ever known."

"The adult industry just lost an amazing artist, the world lost an incredible human being, and I lost a dear friend. Goodbye Lee," Braun said.

Wicked Girl Jessica Drake tweeted, "If you watch high-end adult movies, you've seen the work of Lee Garland...rest in peace, Lee. I know you're making the angels beautiful now."

Longtime Vivid Girl Monique Alexander: "You were an amazing man and talented human. I'll forever miss you."
