Peekay’s Flagship Lovers Store Holds Special Ladies Night

TUKWILA, Wash. — Last Friday Peekay’s flagship Lovers store held a special edition of its Ladies Night event that involved hunky firefighters and fundraising.

According to the company, the Lovers store located at 5301 Southcenter Blvd., was filled to the rafters with customers and enthusiasts. The event was hosted by radio personalities Brooke, Mason and Jubal from Seattle’s MOViN 92.5 radio station.

Peekay founder Phyllis Heppenstall was on hand at the event to introduce Wendy Strgar, author of “Love That Works” and creator of Good Clean Love Products line of all-natural products. Strgar's book and product line are currently available at all Lovers stores.

"As an ongoing commitment to customer education and entertainment our Ladies Nights are always a big hit," Heppenstall said. "Throughout our retail community there are approximately five to seven Ladies Nights at different locations each month.

"We partner with charities, radio stations and vendors for new product introductions, and various businesses in the local communities. This becomes a win-win, not only for us but for customers and all consumers."

Heppenstall added that the events feature "whisper specials," which are only available the night of the events. "Fun, food and friends, always a great mix for success."

Guests were able to purchase calendars featuring Washington firefighters, and some of the hot, hunky local firefighters were on hand to sign the calendars and pose for pictures. Peekay donated all proceeds from the calendar sales, amounting to more than $1,500, to the WSCFF Burn Foundation

Peekay is widely recognized for its charitable contributions. Through the holiday season, the company made several donations to local organizations in Washington and California, including the donation of pajamas to patrons of Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

"Peekay believes in supporting the communities where we do business," Heppenstall said. "Our primary recipient of our gift-giving programs is women and children domestic abuse victims, and victims of all abuse."

The company has assisted work programs for women, drug abuse programs for young adults, as well as AIDS programs, Planned Parenthood and local daycare centers and food banks.

"It is difficult to say no to so many calls. We always try to do something," Heppenstall said. "Giving back returns to one many times over. When we get, we need to give."

Last February during National Condom Week, Peekay donated five cents per condom sold at its Touch of Romance and ConRev locations, totaling to $1,290.05 that was given to the AIDS Services Foundation in Orange County, Calif.
