2 Websites, 9 Studios Team to Police Porn Copyrights

SAN FRANCISCO — Websites XNXX.com and XVideos.com have joined a group of industry studios in an initiative to identify and remove pirated content using Vobile’s MediaWise software, according to attorney Gill Sperlein, who, along with the Free Speech Coalition, helped broker the partnership.

Sperlein said its the first partnership of its kind between user websites and content producers, which include Titan Media, Adam & Eve, Evil Angel, Digital Playground, Hustler Video, Raging Stallion Studios, Wicked Pictures, New Sensations and Zero Tolerance.

“While the studios are willing to litigate if necessary, litigation isn’t always the best option — especially when the websites like XNXX.com and XVideos.com are eager to jump into the fray to help find and remove pirated material from their sites,” Sperlein told XBIZ.

Using MediaWise, studios can fingerprint their libraries of videos and websites can filter user-uploaded clips through the software to identify copyrighted material. Then, instead of removing the content, the website can replace with a teaser clip and an affiliate link back to the copyright holder’s website.

"This program is available to all adult producers at no fee," Sperlein said. "The costs of the technology and the administration of the program are covered by affiliate payouts from traffic directed back to the studios from the tube sites. I think studios will be clamoring to join the program."
