Delaware Wins Gladiator Challenge

SAN JACINTO, Calif. — Adult performer Dick Delaware, aka Aaron Brink, won his mixed-martial-arts fight on Friday evening with a technical knockout of Dan Quinn in the Gladiator Challenge at Soboba Casino.

Competing at the 205-pound light heavyweight limit, Brink landed a flurry of strikes 22 seconds into the second round of the three-round bout before the referee called a stop to the fight.

"It was like I was fighting a zombie in a video game," Brink said. "He kept coming and coming and each time it got a little uglier."

The 35-year-old Brink came out of the contest with a small black eye. "He landed a couple hooks on me, they were glancing blows," he said. "I trained my ass off for this and came in at 100 percent capacity and showcased real well."

The "super-fight” was contested under special rules. Upon signing the contract to face each other, both men had agreed to have the bout decided through only striking; no take-downs or grappling was allowed.

Leading up to the fight the flamboyant Quinn had been taunting Brink with a series of YouTube videos. One was titled “Aaron Brink is Going to Get Hurt.” The 43-year-old Quinn has managed to develop a strong fan following through his numerous video rants on YouTube.

According to Brink, Quinn told him after the fight that he "totally underestimated" him. Brink (23-18-1) was fighting professionally for the first time since losing to UFC heavyweight contender Travis Browne on Feb. 21 at the Gladiator Challenge.

The native of Huntington Beach, Calif., has performed in more than 600 sex scenes in his eight-year adult movie career. He became a notorious figure in both MMA and adult last year when he and his wife, performer Cassandra Cruz, were featured on an explosive episode of A&E’s “Intervention.” The Emmy-winning TV show profiles individuals whose dependence on drugs and alcohol has brought them to a point of personal crisis. The episode in which Brink was profiled chronicled his substance abuse and subsequent intervention in December 2008. Today he's sober and hopes to continue his MMA and porn careers. Currently, he is in negotiations for his next fight which could happen as soon as next month.

Quinn (5-6-1) is a former pro boxer who also played football in the late-80s for Lou Holtz's Notre Dame. He was unavailable for comment at post time.
