Google Adds Analytics Feature to Blogger

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Google’s blog publishing and hosting service Blogger now has its own usage tracker that features log stats and displays reports and graphs.

As a native feature of Blogger, publishers only need to check the new Stats tab in the control dashboard to activate it.

While Blogger publishers can still use other analytics tools, the process requires publishers to paste codes or add gadget applications to their sites, making Google’s Stats easier to implement.

Blogger Stats logs data in “near real-time," Google said, so that publishers can closely monitor the popularity of postings as the day progresses. Publishers can also track usage by day, week, month and longer time frames.

In addition to the number of views that posts get, Blogger Stats captures data such as the site from where users are coming, the search query terms used to find the blog, their country and the browsers they use.

The Stats tool is available to publishers who manage their blogs using Blogger In Draft, a version of Blogger that lets users try out new features before they are rolled to all Blogger users.
