QWEBEC Expo 2009 Wrap-Up Report

MONTREAL — The sixth edition of the QWEBEC Expo has concluded, bringing to end another season for this comfortable and productive Canadian webmaster event.

The event's tagline, "It's all about you," is more than a slogan, it's a promise that hosts Michael P and Patricia B strive to keep each year; which according to some observers raised the bar again for this show.

An added bonus to the tradeshow ambience was the event's coinciding with NASCAR week — Crescent Street was lined with cars and crews and demonstrations; making for a popular hangout for attendees. While it was a little cool for this time of year, the golfers still got sunburned and the Floridians loved the escape from the nineties for a few days.

Another one of the bonuses the QWEBEC Expo provides is the ability to make office visits to several industry companies on the same trip, making the show an opportunity to strengthen relationships as well as to create new ones.

The relaxed exhibitor room allowed for access to sponsors and providers, with an open bar daily, conversation areas and plenty of room to show off. The ability to have uninterrupted NATS previews and demos; talks with Voxtel, 2Much and Intellichat among others; and the opportunity to learn everything James at SinisterAngelCash is working on, was welcome by those seeking new solutions.

Seminars included a Newbie Workshop, while well-known industry attorney J.D. Obenberger delivered the legal keynote, which focused on meeting the requirements of current rules and avoiding costly business mistakes.

Marketing and traffic seminars were also presented as well as a billing seminar that discussed the subtleties among the options, including how they differ and how they work together. A session on content production and management with participants rarely seen outside of Montreal was held, as was an interesting discussion on thinking outside the tube — which surprised many on hand.

This year's speed networking session was sponsored by CamZ, and ensured that every participant met every other participant; while the late afternoon happy hour brought everyone together for cocktails and more networking.

Parties are also a big part of QWEBEC Expo and Michael P assigns them themes each year. Heat was at the NewTown sponsored by TooMuchMedia and offered a Rooftop Lounge and Terrace with great background music and easy conversation to break the ice. Chase was at Club Entourage, sponsored by Braincash and Brazzers and offered high-tech, glitz, lots of shots and not so much conversation; followed by Groove at Light Ultra Club, sponsored by SinisterAngelCash and 2Much.net.

QWEBEC Expo brought together Canadian, European and American attendees who are not always seen elsewhere; adding to the event's unique flavor and personal dedication in a special setting. Plans are now underway for next year's event.
