Porn Name Scam Spreads Across Twitter

LOS ANGELES — Twitter users beware: scammers on the site want your information.

PCWorld Magazine posted an online security alert about a porn-themed scam designed to get users to reveal the answers to their security questions.

The scam itself has all the charm of a late-night pow-wow. The question is simple: What's your porn name?

Fans of adult will recognize the familiar game, which typically asks people to mix together some combination of a pet name, a street name or other common names to conjure up an appropriately silly adult performer pseudonym.

Scammers on Twitter have started a discussion trend asking users to build a porn name by combining the name of the first street they lived on with their mother's maiden name, the latter being one of the most common security questions for online services.

"Be wary of this and other combinations of the game that might entice you to reveal potential answers to your security questions," wrote PCWorld's Aurora Dizon. "Be sure to pass along the information to your friends if they have been unwittingly providing answers to their security questions."

Dizon said that if anyone should fall for this scam, they should simply change their passwords and security questions.
