COLT Studio Group to Release Jerry Douglas' 'Beyond Perfect'

SAN FRANCISCO — Seasoned gay film veteran Jerry Douglas is set to release his latest film, “Beyond Perfect,” which was produced by COLT Studio Group’s Buckshot Productions.

The film stars Brad Patton and Jason Kingsley, as well as award-winning director Joe Gage in a non-sexual role. It is currently scheduled for release in November 2005.

Douglas said his latest film maintains the professionalism and quality he has always tried to shoot for.

“As most fans of adult films are now beginning to realize, making an explicit film is not a simple process,” said Douglas. “We don't just go out and shoot some guys having sex, then duplicate the footage and send it out to the stores.”

Douglas, who likes to wax poetic about the making of his films, compared the shooting to “mining the raw ore.” Although this principal aspect of production is usually the most stressful for Douglas, he said such was not the case for the filming of “Beyond Perfect,” and attributed the stress-free environment to his fourteen-man cast, the crew and the dozens of extras who were involved.

“The most rewarding part of filmmaking for me is the editing of the film, during which the ‘raw ore’ is smelted down and shaped and polished and burnished into what I always hope will turn out to be a work of art,” said Douglas. “I take [the raw footage] back to my home in New York where I study it at length and begin to piece together on paper the quilt that will eventually become the first rough cut.”

Douglas said he is very pleased with the performances from Patton, Kingsley and Gage, especially in the final scene, which he said runs just about a half an hour.

“I truly believe that this is the best scene I have ever shot,” said Douglas. “I just hope that watching it will be as terrific an experience for fans as making it was for me. Happy viewing.”
