New Ad Method and Chance to Win $100,000 from 6Pixels.com

MANCHESTER, England — Less than three months ago, 21-year-old Alex Tew of Wiltshire, England, started The One Million Dollar Homepage as a new way to make money for college. The idea behind the site was simple: host a page with 1 million pixels on it and sell each pixel space to advertisers for $1 apiece.

As of this writing, Tew had sold 288,000 pixels.

Whether or not advertising on such a site will actually boost traffic for the advertisers has yet to be assessed, but it’s no surprise, given Tew’s success, that someone in the adult space would come up with a similar idea.

Hence the recent launch of 6Pixels.com, a new pixel-sale site geared specifically for adult webmasters. Split into eight categories, the site hosts advertising space for Amateurs, Bondage, Celebrities, Groups, Gay, Lesbian, Teen and Other. Inside each category is a grid with 1 million pixels, which is then divided into smaller 100 pixel (10x10) squares.

According to 6Pixels.com CEO Craig Stables, these squares can be bought for prices starting at $75 for the lower sections of the grid. Once a space is purchased, advertisers can place an image on the grid and link directly to their website.

“When marketing your site you need to use unique strategies to make your site stand out from the crowd,” Stables told XBiz. “This is the first time this has been done for adult sites, so we have the unique part down.”

Sables said the company has already received more than 15,000 hits in the first few days of its launch, and claimed the uniqueness angle offers a substantially higher click-thru rate compared to standard banner ads.

“You can buy as many blocks as you wish,” Sables added. “We guarantee that the site will stay online for at least five years, and this is how long your ad would stay visible.”

To celebrate the site’s launch, Sables is also offering webmasters a chance to win $100,000, assuming the site reaches its initial sales goal. Once the site sells a combined one million pixels across the grid, Sables plans to randomly pick an existing advertiser to win the prize money.

Currently the company is also offering four free squares to all new advertisers when they buy one.
