Playboy Monetizing Its Casting Calls

LOS ANGELES — Playboy Enterprises Inc. has found a hook with its famous casting calls, and it might bring in added revenue.

The adult entertainment giant has planned a series of casting calls in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, New York and San Jose, Calif., all in the attempt to find Playmates, Cyber Girls and special editions and online models.

But with these casting calls, it’s the model who will initially pay for the experience. Playboy said it’s charging models a $49.95 registration for the casting call, and that registration is online only at PlayboyCastingCalls.com.

“For this fee you will receive a Playboy magazine CD, a copy of Special Editions, one month free access to Playboy’s Cyber Club, an “I POSED” T-shirt and starting with the Philadelphia casting call, you will have the unique opportunity to download three photos from your casting calls audition,” Playboy says.

Auditions will consist of a 30-minute interview and photo-and-video session. The company said nudity of some sorts will be expected and that models should wear high-heels and lingerie or a swimsuit.

Playboy said it particularly looking for “college students, busty babes, hot housewives and natural beauties” who are 18 and over.

Its first casting call is slated for Feb. 18 and 19 in Phoenix.
