“Jesse Jane is the No. 1 star in adult entertainment,” Digital Playground spokesman Christopher told XBIZ. “You can basically make a case that any movie with her name in it is a bestseller. And ‘Marvelous’ also is a film that I think appeals to a lot of consumers, especially since it’s a film based more on costume, settings and mise en scene rather than just sex. It’s very visual, very artistic.”
“Marvelous,” presented in HD and originally released on DVD in January 2006, is directed by Celeste and also stars Codi Milo, Claire Robbins, Sandra Shine and Alicia Alighatti.
Digital Playground has been releasing its popular titles on Blu-ray for more than a year, according to Christopher.
“We feel like Blu-ray is a medium that’s really here to stay,” he said. “The other possible technologies that people are talking about, like downloading as opposed to buying, aren’t really permanent. People still like to have a hard copy of something. Even though they download music on iTunes, for example, they still back the songs up on a CD. So we think Blu-ray is really going to hold up for the next five or 10 years, and possibly even past that.”
