Attorney Walters Discusses New 2257 Revisions In Podcast

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Adult industry attorney Lawrence G. Walters discusses the effects of the changes to the 18 U.S.C. § 2257 regulations on the latest SiN2.0 Adult Webmaster Podcast, which is available for download now,

Walters is a managing partner in the law firm of Weston, Garrou, Walters & Mooney, which has represented the adult industry for almost 50 years. He is currently the president of the First Amendment Lawyers Association, and has been advising adult webmasters since the early days of the Internet. In his career, Walters has handled high-profile cases involving censorship and First Amendment issues.

The interview explores the revisions which were released by the Justice Department in December and are expected to go into effect in March. They include new labeling obligations by primary and secondary producers and a new requirement for images which include "simulated" sexually explicit content.

"It is earthshattering to hear the depths these revisions make to the original 2257 regulations," host and producer Jason "J-SiN" Hart said. "Secondary producers are going to have a major wakeup call when they realize the new requirements posed by this revision apply to them as well."

Other topics in the interview include what constitutes proper ID for performers and a new twist to the recordkeeping requirement involving the date of production.

"Numerous changes have been made to the contents of the records that need to be kept, and how the labeling obligation is fulfilled," Walters said. "All webmasters should pay close attention to these regulatory amendments to ensure full legal compliance."
