Flynt, Francis Appeal to Congress for Industry Bailout

LOS ANGELES — Hustler’s Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild’s Joe Francis are appealing to Congress by jointly requesting a $5 billion bailout for the adult industry, a spokesperson for Francis announced today.

Francis is in the process of drafting a petition requesting financial assistance from the newly assembled 111th Congress in response to a drastic 22-percent drop in DVD sales and rentals in favor of adult websites over the last year, as well as general financial downturn as a result of the economic recession. Upon completion of the petition, Francis is planning to present it to Congress in person, Owen Moogan, LFP press relations representative, told XBIZ.

“With the Big Three automakers asking for assistance, and with banks asking for assistance, we thought, ‘Why not us?’” Moogan told XBIZ. “The adult industry is another great American business entity. We represent the all-American pursuit of sexual gratification.”

Flynt, who is in the process of filing a trademark infringement lawsuit against his nephews, said the recession has deeply affected the adult industry because “people are too depressed to be sexually active. This is a very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such, but they cannot do without sex. It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly.”
