Asia Erotic Expo Draws PacSun

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Gay adult distributor Pacific Sun Entertainment will attend the Asia Adult Expo December 4 -7 in Macau, China. “Asia holds the promise of becoming a huge, emerging market for XXX product,” the studio said.

“As times and attitudes change, the world really does become more of a global village,” said Michael LaBarbera, PacSun’s Marketing and Promotions Director.

“This promises to be an exciting opportunity to bring U.S. product to the Asian market.”

He said PacSun is looking to partner with a “compatible adult novelty or VOD company” to share booth space and shoulder the costs associated with attending the Expo.

“As far as we know, this is the first event of its kind in Asia. We were solicited and it sounded interesting,” PacSun CEO Pritam Sinha told XBIZ.

The Asian market for adult product is “about to explode” and Pacific Sun is poised to exploit the opportunity. “We want to be on the ground floor. We expect to find some excellent contacts for distribution,” he said.

The management team who purchased and revamped PacSun earlier this year “are all of Asian origin,” Sinha said. “We have also lived in many countries and thus, we believe, have a higher chance of being successful” at the Expo.

Sinha said the company is also preparing an aggressive expansion into the adult novelty business. “Adult toys novelties are here to stay. Consumers cannot enjoy a toy through video-on-demand or the internet — they actually have to buy it.”

The company sourced Chinese novelty manufacturers during the Venus Erotic Expo in Berlin last month, and they plan to follow-up on those contacts while in Macau.

Additional information can be found via PacSun’s dedicated wholesale website.
