WIA Profile: Belladonna

Each month, industry news media organization XBIZ spotlights the career accomplishments and outstanding contributions of Women in Adult. WIA profiles offer an intimate look at the professional lives of the industry's most influential female executives.

What is your role and responsibility at Belladonna Entertainment?

I am a woman who wears many hats

I am a woman who wears many hats at Belladonna Entertainment. Not only am I the owner, but I also do a lot of the work that makes it such a great company. Contrary to popular belief, my company really consists of just two people, my partner and husband, Aiden Kelly, and myself. Together as a team, we produce, direct, shoot and edit all of our DVDs. Things I do solely on my own are: DVD photo galleries, fan snail mail, fan website e-mail, interviews, signings, blogs, and much more that make my company what it is today.

What are your goals for 2008?

Here are just a few of my many goals for 2008. I plan on continuing my self-promotion project by traveling the world so everyone and their grandmother knows the name Belladonna! I will also continue to produce top-quality adult cinema, topping the previous year and looking to learn more technical skills to be a bigger part and impact more of what I do best.

Describe your typical workday.

On a typical day, I go to the office and log onto my website to answer messages from fans, then I check out my MySpace page and do all of my business there. I'll go through emails, do interviews, pay bills, schedule movies and talent. Then, depending on what day it is, I might actually be getting ready to have my brains fucked out … or fuck someone else's!

What is the biggest challenge to being a woman in the adult entertainment industry?

I really can't think of any challenges that I have had in this business. I really get treated with a lot of respect and I don't feel I ever get treated differently because I'm a woman. I suppose if women are feeling that they're not being treated equally, it's probably because they aren't being respected as an intelligent businessperson.

How do you maintain balance in your life?

I always make time for myself and my family — the two most important things in my life. Keeping everything ahead of schedule and being consistent helps keep me balanced as well. Oh yeah, and having the ability to control the business and make it work for me, that is a big plus. Tip of the day: Never let the business take control of you.
