A Girl's-Eye View of Gay Porn

The question frequently comes up on the adult industry message boards and beyond, often posed by straight guys seeking to build solo sites featuring themselves as models: "Do women look at these sites?" The answer they usually receive is "No, just gay guys will be checking you out." While it's true that the majority of viewers will likely be gay, there are women who will visit the site, seeking an eyeful of good-looking men.

The problem is that most of these "guy sites" are really "gay sites" — and this leads to the big question: Do girls look at gay porn? Though I can't speak for all women, I can say that this is definitely an area I have past experience with, as well as something I view on an almost everyday basis.

So let's start with my past experiences, as it was with virgin eyes and not really something I knew much about; so much so that my first encounter with the gay possibilities ended up being with a man I almost married. I know that this might sound crazy, but there are a few gay men out there who are attracted to women like myself — only their attraction is that they would like to be more like the woman they're with, and not necessarily a sexual attraction. I found out later that he was bisexual so that explained why he still liked having sex with me, but what I walked into is a whole other realm of sexual choice that would change my way of thinking forever.

So that's my history on "the gay man" and even though it may not seem so important it sets the tone for what happened next and why I have a clearer view on the subject of "women and gay porn."

A Curious Mind
After having experienced a man who enjoyed sexual pleasure with other men, it set me up to become curious as to why and what this all meant. I have since found that there isn't just one clear answer to understanding this choice, but there was a lot that I could view and learn on the subject. While my engagement ended with my bisexual partner, the friendship remained and the "real journey" began.

We would sit and talk for hours about how it made him feel when he was with a man versus being with a woman and other physical aspects, as well as emotional issues he had experienced; but when he pulled out his collection of gay adult videos, that's when I truly saw the path of a gay man and could see in his eyes what it all really meant.

I can honestly say that not all of it was appealing and some of it I actually had to turn away from as it was just too much for my eyes to take. But there is interest in women wanting to know what it looks like when two men are together, and in some cases if the sex act is enticing enough, it can actually arouse a female who is viewing it; don't ask me why as I'm not a psychologist, but for me, it's more about the raw form (animal instincts) and free mind that I see in some of the pictures that pushes my buttons — it's the chemistry involved that flips my switch.

And in this process my ideas about sex have become more open and even though I still don't completely understand it all, it leaves room for more to view and understand. So this is something that continually piques my interest as well as other women, I suppose. It isn't so much the sexy undressed man as we can find that on straight sites; it's more about the curiosity factor: the "why" and "what does that look like" that makes us as women want to view gay sites.

Sites That Push Buttons
One of the things that bothers me is looking at the younger men going at it. Maybe it's because I have boys their age or I just don't prefer looking at the immature body of an 18-year-old boy having sex. I'm not sure, but I know that I do like to look at sites with men who are physically fit and experienced. For instance, Badpuppy Enterprises has a site called VintageGayMale.com that is visually appealing with an artistic taste on gay sex, which also adds some history on the subject matter and makes for a good read as well as a learning experience, therefore satisfying this straight girl's curiosities.

Another interesting site that pushes my buttons for many reasons is from CyberHeat, AllGayRealityPass.com, which gives more of a real take on men and their cravings. It also has cartoons that show a lighter side to this lifestyle, and since I'm the one who messes up the newspaper to find the "funnies," this is also a personal connection, gay or not.

Last but definitely not least is a site called FilthyFreshMen.com, owned by Cybersocket. For me, the personal draw is in the fact that the models remind me of the guy in my past and I like the fact that you can chat with them, ask questions and get answers. This site has a fun, free and accepting attitude about it that a straight girl like me doesn't feel uncomfortable surfing through.

While this is only a personal glimpse, I have to believe that many other women feel the same way about this material and that understanding our sensitivities will help gay site owners reach out to a broader market. I hope that this gives some enlightenment on what straight girls think about gay porn and why we view it. For myself, I understand that as long as I'm here on Earth there's a lot left to learn about everything, including sexuality and human cravings — and I'm sure I'm not the only one seeking answers.
